About Our Staff at Auxiliary House
We started Auxiliary House because we wanted to create an intimate memory care community designed for residents whose needs fall in between those of traditional assisted living and memory care. Through engaging and meaningful activities, high-quality care, and personalized dining, we offer residents a safe, comfortable, and loving environment.
Located in the heart of Bethesda in Montgomery County, Maryland, Auxiliary House offers the comfort of a small and home-like atmosphere. Our home is located off of Old Georgetown Road, across the street from The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and next door to Suburban Hospital.
Auxiliary House itself is a cozy two-story home, offering 8 private rooms with private bathrooms and several communal areas, including a sitting room, living room, dining area, and kitchen. When it’s nice out, residents can relax on our wrap-around porch or by the vegetable garden. Caregivers can accompany residents on walks through the Huntington Terrace neighborhood.
Experienced, Quality Caregivers
What makes Auxiliary House stand out is the dedication of our staff. Many of our caregivers and members of our management team have worked with us for over a decade, some even longer. In an industry with high turnover, this speaks volumes about our staff’s dedication and experience. We maintain a small resident capacity of 8 which gives our team the ability to connect with each resident on a personal level. One way this is done is by creating “Family Albums.” Each resident receives their own short biography that documents their backgrounds, interests, and achievements; by reading and sharing these albums, staff members get to know our residents beyond their basic medical needs.
Our staff to resident ratio of 1:4 allows us to provide very individualized care. Our caregivers assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, medication management, nutritional monitoring, and laundry and housekeeping. We also provide in-house access to external health specialists when needed, such as doctors, mobile dentists, podiatrists, therapists, and geriatric psychiatrists.
Our homes run smoothly thanks to a team of dedicated individuals. In addition to our caregivers, we employ a delegating nurse, two directors, a maintenance supervisor, human resources manager, and a business manager. We also have an activity therapist who works directly with residents to design programs that meet their unique interests.
Our 25+ years of experience in memory care has helped make us the leading dementia care provider in Montgomery County. Finding a place that meets the ever-changing needs of your loved one is no small task. Call us at 301-384-4017 or complete the form to find out how we can help.
