At Cedar Creek Memory Care Homes, families often have questions about how we care for their loved ones. Our goal is to provide clear, honest answers to help you understand what makes our communities special, from our services and daily life to how we support safety, independence, and dignity in memory care. Our daily rates are all-inclusive and remain consistent even if care needs change over time. Families never have to worry about surprise add-on fees. The daily rate covers personalized care, help with activities of daily living, medication management, housekeeping, and laundry. Residents are responsible for the cost of their own medications, personal care items, and supplies.

Cedar Creek is a private-pay community. However, if a resident has long-term care insurance that covers assisted living, they may submit for reimbursement. We encourage families to review their policies to see what coverage may apply. While we are a private-pay community, we understand that families may need assistance finding other options. The Alzheimer’s Association and other community resources, such as the Maryland Family Caregiver Support Program, may be able to help with financial planning and support services.

Yes. All of our communities feature private bedrooms with either private or shared bathrooms, depending on the home. We provide furniture such as a single bed, nightstand, dresser, and chair. Families are also welcome to bring personal furnishings and décor to make rooms feel like home. Creating a familiar, comfortable environment helps support well-being and ease the transition into memory care living. For details about room types and layouts, see Our Homes.

Yes. Our communities partner with visiting physicians, nurses, therapists, dentists, and podiatrists. Residents may continue seeing their own healthcare providers if preferred. Our visiting medical providers support ongoing health needs with regular check-ups and care.

Cedar Creek’s activity program is designed especially for those living with memory loss. Our full-time activity therapist supports all five homes, getting to know each resident’s background, personal interests, and preferences to create meaningful experiences. Activities may include gardening, music, art, puzzles, daily exercise, reminiscence groups, and special events. Our caregivers also incorporate daily engagement throughout the day. See our full offerings on the activities page.

We welcome family and friends between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., as those are the optimal times of the day for our residents.  We understand that special needs and schedules may arise, so we welcome visits at any time of the day. Visiting is a key part of maintaining connection and comfort for our residents.

Yes. We regularly arrange for professional hairdressers to visit our homes. This allows residents to maintain grooming and personal care without leaving the community.

Yes. We offer respite care for families in need of short-term support. Our respite stays have a 30-day minimum, during which residents receive the same compassionate care and daily engagement as our long-term residents.

Resident safety is one of our top priorities. All Cedar Creek homes have locked and alarmed entrances to prevent unsafe wandering. Backyards at every home except Auxiliary House are fully fenced, providing secure outdoor access for residents. Staff are present 24/7, ensuring continuous supervision and support. Our goal is to maintain a safe environment while preserving each resident’s dignity and independence.

Our caregivers receive comprehensive dementia-specific training when they begin and have annual refreshers, plus ongoing education in memory care best practices. Our leadership team includes Certified Dementia Practitioners to ensure our programs reflect high standards of care.

Most residents remain with Cedar Creek throughout their lives. When hospice care is needed, we partner with local organizations to provide additional nursing, comfort, and emotional support. On rare occasions when care needs exceed our license and capabilities, we work closely with families to find the best alternative and ensure a smooth, compassionate transition.
