At Cedar Creek in Montgomery County, we made a conscious effort to have small memory care communities so that our programs are individualized for each resident. We don’t believe you can provide good dementia care in a large, anonymous nursing home where residents see new faces of staff every day. Our small memory care facility gives us a great opportunity.
It’s Cedar Creek’s goal to know everything we can about a resident- what makes them happy, what makes them stressed, and what they have spent the last 75 years doing. We know that the person we see before us does not always convey the richness of their life.

To truly provide quality care for someone, we want to know their story and how to bring them the highest quality of life. The world gets pretty small when someone has dementia or Alzheimer’s disease; we want to make that world a happy place because each and every resident deserves as much joy in their lives as possible!

BETHESDA, MARYLAND
Auxiliary House is a two-level memory care home and assisted living facility equipped with an elevator for 8 residents. The rooms are spacious and each room has a private bathroom. Auxiliary House is conveniently located near the downtown area of Bethesda. Our residents love our wrap-around porch and vegetable garden during the warmer weather.

We like to boast that our memory care home at Cedar Glen is part of the Registry of Historic Homes for Montgomery County. When you visit, you will see why with its unique architecture and country-like setting. Located in the beautiful Fallsmead neighborhood, our 8 residents enjoy a large backyard garden and a perfect setting for afternoon walks.

Our first senior memory care home to open was Clifton Woods. This one-story home for 8 residents was where the idea of providing memory care in a home setting was first envisioned. You may even find a caregiver or two that has been there since we opened our doors!

The Hillwood memory care and assisted living community is conveniently located near Seven Locks Road in Bethesda and provides a beautiful setting for our 8 residents. As our name suggests, this one-story home is nestled up on a hill and our residents enjoy a nice walking path in the backyard.

MAPLE RIDGE

Maple Ridge is our largest memory care home for 14 residents in Rockville. It is one story, with both shared and private bathrooms. At the center of Maple Ridge is our beloved vegetable and flower garden where you will find our residents and staff outside during the summer months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Once a resident has moved in, are there charges for extra care services that are not reflected in the daily rate?

Daily rates are all-inclusive and do not change as care needs increase. Cedar Creek does not charge extra for personal care, medication administration, laundry services, or housekeeping. Residents do pay for their own medication, personal care items, and supplies.

We have doctors, nurses, therapists, dentists, podiatrists, and other health care professionals who visit residents at our Alzheimer’s care homes. Residents are welcome to continue to see their own doctor, but we provide the option to utilize our doctors for convenience and for more monitored medical oversight.

Cedar Creek residents may receive a doctor’s order for physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy. Therapists can come to any of our Alzheimer’s care facilities to work with our residents.

We will work with you and their doctor(s) to obtain the necessary information for the assessment. Once the decision has been made to move to Cedar Creek, we will assist you in locating a doctor who can be their new health care practitioner if needed.

We have a unique and individualized activity program, structured to meet the needs of residents with Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss. Our amazing full-time activity therapist learns about each resident’s background and finds opportunities to bring them joy. You may find our activity therapist outside working with residents in one of our retirement community’s vegetable gardens, taking residents on a journey with her iPad to explore their hometown, or leading a reminiscence group. If our activity therapist meets a resident with an interest in quilting, they start a quilting group. We also have therapists who provide cognitive stimulation and entertainers who provide music therapy for our residents. In addition, our caregivers are trained to engage residents in meaningful activities throughout the day, such as leading daily exercise or sing-a-longs, working on puzzles, and art projects. Our activity program varies based on the home and the interests of the residents, which is why we can truly say it is unique.

In most cases, residents stay with us for long-term care throughout their lives. Additionally, residents whose health status qualifies for hospice care can be assisted at our residential memory care homes by nursing support from local hospice organizations. In rare cases, when a resident’s care needs exceed the licensed capabilities of Cedar Creek, we work closely with family members to find the best alternative and promote a smooth transition to the new care facility.
